The Ulat have antennae, and with them a sense the other Moons lack. It is psychic, within limits: an Ulat can tell what another will do next, and where their conduct will lead them.

The Ulat had invented language and philosophy of their own, and some science and simple technology. They saw the Orum and believed in Jol, but they relied more on themselves, and few of them practised Orumancy well. They had never valued the art.

What they valued was their sense. On it they built a political philosophy of trust: a leader could not lie, because a lie could be felt.
